Class C-1: Wahoo captures second straight state title with five-set win vs. Lincoln Lutheran

Wahoo dropped the first set before winning the next two. Lutheran took advantage of some uncharacteristic Wahoo mistakes in the fourth set — it had six service errors and three net violations — to tie the match 2-2.

State volleyball: Lincoln Lutheran sticks to the plan to reach first state final since 2005

The opening set of Friday’s first Class C-1 semifinal didn’t go according to plan for Lincoln Lutheran. In fact, it went so poorly the Warriors thought about a lineup change — but after a debate in the huddle, they decided to stick with what brought them this far.

It was the best decision the team could’ve made.

Lincoln Lutheran got to the final with ease, as the Warriors rolled to a 25-6, 25-10, 25-15 sweep over Raymond Central.

“We just needed to play at the high level of volleyball we are capable of,” Lincoln Lutheran coach Sue Ziegler said. “Now we just have to bring our A-game tomorrow night when we play Malcolm.”
